Alyssa earned her BA in Neuroscience from Boston University in 201. After graduating, she worked as a lab technician for Dr. Mike McDannald at Boston College studying the role of early life stress and early life alcohol exposure on adult fear learning in rats. Then, she spent her last year before graduate school as a lab technician for Dr. Kyle Smith at Dartmouth College investigating habit formation in rats. As a PhD student in the Maguire Lab, Alyssa is working to define the role of the δ subunit-containing GABAARs in anxiety-like behaviors specifically during alcohol withdrawal.
