Cesar Urzua, Laidlaw Scholar
Iām a current undergraduate student at Tufts University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Child Study and Human Development. I am originally from Rhode Island, and I am glad to be representing my family who arrived to the United States from Guatemala. As a rising junior, I have received the honor of working at the Tufts School of Medicine in the Maguire Lab as a Laidlaw Scholar. When applying to the Laidlaw Scholars Foundation, I knew I wanted my first research experience to involve Neuroscience, and I was very happy to have introduced myself to Dr. Jamie Maguire. Within the laboratory, I will be focusing on the connection between the locus coeruleus and basolateral amygdala and the impact that adverse childhood experiences may have on these locations in the brain for a developing child.
